    From: "Geoff Heap" <stol10@comcast.net>
A breaker bar does the job in seconds (180 swivel). I cut the handle off a long one so that it just misses the engine mount. The size of the square is a nice fit into the tube that holds the bungee. Insert the square in the tube. slip the bungee over the handle and lift. As the handle moves up past the perpendicular position to the strut, the bungee slides over the end and onto the tube. Done. No sharp edges as the swivel area of the breaker bar is a little bigger diameter than the tube. It's really effortles and needs only one hand. Taking the bungee off again??? Probably no help. I didn't try that yet.....Geoff Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=118566#118566

Ben, I purchased the panel construction and the two fuselage construction DVDs. They are all very good. You will learn a lot. A major facet is the coverage of why you leave some rivets until later. It then starts to make a lot of sense. I highly recommend them. Members, I have through trial and error using 1/8" plexiglass found that the best way to cut a hole in the canopy is with a hole saw that is new enough to be very sharp. The trick is to make the center hole with a drill bit going very slow (minimum pressure) once you have a center hole position the drill bit in the saw holder so only the smooth part of the bit is in contact with the hole you just made. Then proceed to cut the hole. Minimum pressure is required throughout the procedure to prevent cracking the canopy. Those of you who live in the southern states of our great country will for sure want to have extra vents to allow more air to enter the cockpit during the late spring, summer and early fall but not in the winter time so when you buy a vent to install, be sure to get one that you can close when not in use. I bought a small DVD portable player and play the video in my aircraft factory step by step as I build. The remote lets me go back over a step as many times as necessary. It's like having a personal instructor at my elbow. My hat's off the Jon Croke. His videos are a great confidence builder and shouldn't be missed. Listers: I am finishing up on the Rear Fuselage using the DVD that Jon sells and concur wholeheartedly with Robert's comment below. I use my older MAC in the garage and often go over the video numerous times to make sure I understand what the next step is. I have not made any errors or scrapped any parts since getting the video. I still spend some time on the Zenith drawings and pictorial guides and, on one occasion, found the latter to be a simpler explanation to the procedure to be followed. I will be starting on the forward fuselage in a week or so and have Jon's video to guide the way. My thanks to Jon for a superior instructional aid. Gig, I looked at your web site to see if "Has anyone used this one " was in the cockpit section and it was not so I can only assume that it was supposed to be in a picture attachment that you forgot to include!!! Oddly enough, that has happened to me a lot recently where the person's link gets taken out of the email. If you go to the post on the matronic's web version, a link to aircraft-spruce is there. That is the link he was referring to. Here is the link to Gig's email on the web: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=118608#118608 I don't know if it is a problem with Matronics or what. Just about finished my rudder and am starting on the stab soon. I have not attended any workshop and have found the video invaluable. Watch it before you start, watch it along the way as a refresher and watch it for specific sections if you get stuck. It's clarified things for me several times. I would highly recommend them. Ben, I purchased the "Metalworking 101" video from Homebuilt help and watched it 3 times just before I went to the Factory rudder workshop. It made the building much easier. However, the video is for a 701 rudder and I built a 601 rudder. There is one part of the spar that you cut the corners off for the 701 but do not on the 601. I got arrogant and cut off the corners before I looked at the plans. STUPID!! One lesson that I learned is to READ THE PLANS! DUUUA!!! To sum it up: After seeing the video I felt I could probably start building. After taking the workshop, I was sure that I could. I've spent much more than $300.00 on a weekend and didn't have half as much fun. Even if I don't end up building, I still have a rudder hanging in my shop to remind me of the good time that I had. You don't have to wait until you get your ticket before you start. I also have a copy of "Scratch Building Basics for Metal Aircraft" that Larry Winger loaned me (I've got to get it back to him!). It is also a great video. Just my two cents worth Dave Thompson Westminster, CA New shop, Corvair engine in parts, Rudder Workshop, Scratch-built stab skeleton and no money : (
