Subject: | Re: Zenith-List Digest: Jabiru FWF Ivoprop |
Darryl,
You need to do some research. Download the Jabiru manuals and see the props that
they approve. I think the only non- wood one is the Sensenich hollow carbon
fire. There is good reason for their decisions. But they wont tell you. And its
not because they want to sell a line of props.
The Ivoprop attachment scheme is not up to the torque reversals applied by the
Jab and the Warpdrive hub and blades get eaten for breakfast. I'm not making this
up one of the associations - PFA or one of the UK equivalents - not sure -
has AD'd these parts off of Jabirus and they can only be used elsewhere if no
cracks and total time is less than 10 hours, otherwise they are scrap.
This problem is common to most direct drive engines, in the Jabiru case it may
also be a factor in the flywheel attach bolts problem.
701 drivers have reported good results with the Prince p tips, and the wood Sensenich.
Reports on the Carbon model yield same performance as a good wood one,
only advantage is its ground adjustable.

Another fine Zenith aircraft took to the sky at 7:30 AM local this morning. N701RR
came to life and flew two complete circuits. What a surprise! Now the panels
come off for a look-see. BTW..she's a Zenith 701 with slats Vs VGs, auto
conversion Geo Metro 1.3L with IVO inflight adjustable prop, avionics master
switch, and..GULP, I did use green Scotchbrite???
Special thanks to all the folks at Zenith then all my peeps that gave me support
and help along the way: First to my WIFE, then Tommy Walker, Randy Fortune,

Rick , Congratulations, Big Time! For those of you who have not followed
Rick and his adventure over the last couple of years may just wish to
visit his website. HYPERLINK "http://www.n701rr.com/"www.n701rr.com
Rick has endure some trials and tribulations that most of us will never
see, his building project has been sidetracked to help out after
Katrina, move to a different state and a new job. Designing a whole new
FWF package for the Geo installation. Plus many road blocks dealing with
a new style of installation of said engine.
All in all Rick has triumphed more then most of us to get his Purple
CH701 in the Air. Rick Congratulations is not only for your first flight
but for having the fortitude to continue on a path that few have truly
managed to travel. The spirit of the homebuilder is truly a spark
generated by Rick..

Congratulations Rick great news! How long was the journey to get to today's success?
The feeling
must be phenomenal. Every time I here another 701 gets in the air it motivates
me to get out there
and start working on mine.

Congratulations Rick!
So pleased to hear you've flown. The Geo would seem an excellent
application for the 701.
Do be sure to add pictures of your bird one day soon.
Very anxious to hear the data and economy of that engine too.
Super!

Subject: | Post Mortem - Matronics List Pummeled By Spam... |
Dear Listers,
Over a 3-day period, Thursday 11/8 though Saturday 11/10, the Matronics Lists were
pummeled with over 450,000 spam emails causing posting delays and a few duplicate
messages. Yeah, I really said nearly half a million spams! The good
news is that I don't believe a single one of them actually made it to the Lists
thanks to the aggressive List filtering code and the Barracuda spam filter.
The bad news was that it caused quite a back log of email messages starting Friday
and continuing until late Saturday when I noticed that delivery seemed a bit
sluggish. By about 11pm on Saturday night, I had managed to get the backlog
cleared out of the spam filter by temporarily adjusting some of the filtering.
A check of the queues this morning, and everything looks like its working great
and there are no incoming filtering delays and spam levels appear to be back
to "normal".
There were a number of people asking what was going on, so I thought that I'd send
out a follow up post mortem on the event...
November is the annual List Fund Raiser. Your contribution directly enables me
to buy systems like the Barracuda spam filter that keep the List free of that
garbage. Please make a contribution to support your Lists!

Thank you!

One thing about the new actuator is that the limit switches don't
appear to be adjustable like on the old one. This would make matching
the geometry of your flap system to the plans more critical than in the
past. On the other hand if you remove the rubber cover there may be
some form of adjustment still possible.
