Best bet is to just ask for a progressive taxi if you could not keep up. Being
a controller (enroute not tower) its very Pavlovian for us to want to get as
much info out as quick as possible when we are also readying other clearances
or are busy. This usually only amplifies confusion and creates unnoticed read
back errors but it is just a trained reflex. Worst case scenario and the controller
is nasty, just continue to ask for clarification (DO NOT proceed if uncertain)
because a nasty controller is also the one who is very likely to start
his next transmission "N1234 possible pilot deviation contact....." and you
definitely don't want to hear those words. It's a sad state that controllers
can harbor that animosity toward pilots, it seems we expect them all to be perfect,
but remember when it ultimately comes down to it we all just want to fly
safely.
Hoping we can peacefully co exist (Pilots, Controllers)

Aircraft Spruce will almost always have what you want. My starter does not
pass through a battery cutoff relay so the max load I can ever see through
it is 16 amps. I simply went down to the local auto supply and bought a 35
amp continuous duty relay for $6 and used that. I figured that with the 2.5
amp real load I will experience flying daylight VFR it's more tha adequate.
If you really want the full meal deal head on down to your local RV dealer.

I got mine through B&C Specialty. It came complete with all the diodes,
as recommended in the Aeroelectric Connection book. I actually got
three contactors from them - the battery contactor, the alternator
contactor (I'm using the Stratus engine), and the starter contactor.
They're slightly different from each other, so you have to be careful
which goes where.

Hey Dan,
Congratulations on completing your canopy. I'm sure it looks great.
I have a question of you. How did you make contact with Todd's Canopy? I sent
them an email on May 16th and they have yet to answer me.
There has been a rumor circulating that Todd's is in the process of becoming
the supplier for Zenith. I was down to the factory about a month ago and mentioned
it to Joyce. She told me she hasn't heard a word about this, but she would
be the last person to know if it was in the works. I did ask Todd in my e-mail
if they were or were not going to supply the canopy to Zenith. As of yet,
no word. I am leaning more towards a tinted Lexan canopy and I would like
to know if I can or can't get one from him. Anything you can add to this is greatly
appreciated.

Subject: | Free HomebuiltHELP 912 Installation Tips DVD |
I find myself with an extra copy of HomebuiltHELP's "912 Installation Tips"
DVD. This is the OLDER DVD for the BED (not ring) mount (although most of it
would apply to the newer FWF kit ring mount from Zenith). The description is
here:
http://homebuilthelp.com/912.htm
Free to the first taker BUT I would prefer that you only ask for it if you
have an immediate and real need (i.e. don't be greedy). I'll mail it from
Utah.

I also installed clamping diodes on the starter solenoid and battery
contactor on my plane. One came with a diode and instructions, and I
got a cheap diode (1N4003 I think) from Radio Shack for the other
one. The actual component choice isn't critical for this application
so long as it is a solid state diode.
(On second thought, the first clamping diode may have been included
with the magneto switch I ordered from Aircraft Spruce. I think it
was added by STC to keep the starter switch from failing.)
The clamping diodes are essential to keeping your electronics from
seeing huge voltage spikes when the relay coil circuits are opened.
Installation of this type of clamping diode is standard electronics
industry practice any time a coil is switched in a DC
circuit. Without this component, a coil can generate thousands of
volts in even a 5 or 12 volt DC circuit when the circuit is opened.

Subject: | Zenith 912 instrument package for sale |
I bought a 701 kit which included the standard flight and engine instrument
package from Zenith for a Rotax 912. Since I'll be installing a glass panel
I'm offering the factory instruments for sale. The package was purchased
from Zenith in April of 2006 and has never been installed.
The kit includes:
Airspeed, ball, magnetic compass, altimeter, tachometer (with 912 RPM limits
color coded), oil temperature & pressure, coolant temperature, voltage
indicator & hour meter. Although (I believe) not part of the Zenith package
the photo also shows dual fuel level indicators, Ray Allen trim switch and
indicator, 25 amp toggle-style circuit breaker and a standard
left/right/both/crank key switch. Except for the trim switch and indicator I
can include any of these (fuel level, key switch, circuit breaker) if you
need them.
Zenith lists the package for $1050. I'm offering the whole kit for $600.
Buyer pays shipping of their choice from Utah.
Picture attached. If you want a higher resolution picture or have questions
write me at craig "at" craigandjean "dot" com.
