I moved the light so the low beam hit me direct near the ground and the high beam was nearly waist high at the same distance. Should be fine. Rick Anyone have any tips on aiming landing and taxi lights on a 601XL? Jay in Dallas ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 06:31:04 AM PST US Subject: Zenith-List: Re: Landing & Taxi Lights From: "Gig Giacona" Jay I haven't done it yet but I realized that I couldn't find how to aim them anywhere. Then it dawned on me that there are plenty of aircraft at the airport so my plane is a follows. Find an airplane that has them aimed correctly. Then get the pilot to turn on the taxi light see where it hits the ground. Repeat process with landing light. The other is a tool that is not found in most tool boxes. I pulled a neat tool out of a trash bin that can help with all sorts of safety wire jobs. From a distance, it looks like a screwdriver. The tip end is like a small flat disc with two small holes in it. The two holes get safety wire inserted in them and you twist the handle. It is really handy for tight places. The 2007-2008 Aircraft Spruce shows one on page 603 for $13.60. My prop hub safety wire job is not the prettiest, but it is passable. I mainly wired mine because the Jabiru installation manual said it could not be done with the deeper prop hub. That kind of a challenge is all I needed. Plus, I was not comfortable with just locktite on the bolts. Good luck, DaveG -------- David Gallagher 601 XL, working on final assembly. One trick he recommended was to twist the wires backwards to make them lay better. Quality Sport Planes just held their Jabiru FWF class with Jim. I understand there is an internal battery for the memory of the user input stored data. I have had my 250XL for about 5 years and it works great. Has anybody had to replace this battery and if so what and where is the battery? Is it difficult to replace? Thanks, Chuck D. From: "Chris Lewis" They had nothing posted other than they were shooting for 800# empty weight on the production model. It's about 43" wide at the rear of the doors and appears in general to be about 10% larger all around. The rudder looks the same although the wings and horiz stab wider and have a longer chord and are much more like the 801 in constructions (no solid rivets at the TE).
