Subject: | new video's on website |
Hi all,
I just put up a few video's on the web site of our journey from Fl. to KY.
I'm not sure if the 56 K guys will have any problems but I shrank them down
as small as I could for you guys so let me know if it is ok or if I need to
put a link to them one by one. Cable shouldn't be an issue.
They are on the home page. _www.aeroliteproducts.com_

In addition to my 601XL QBK I've also listed the following components of my
XL project on Barnstormers:
ZENITH 601XL QUICK BUILD KIT, $19,000
NEW JABIRU 3300 ENGINE, $16,000
FWF FOR ZENITH 601/JABIRU 3300, $3,300
SENSENICH COMPOSITE PROP WITH POLISHED ALUMINUM SPINNER FOR JABIRU, $1,900
SKYSHOP LEATHER SEATS AND INTERIOR FOR ZENITH 601XL, $1,000
A member of this list has already said he wants to buy the Jabiru 3300 but
I'll start a waiting list in case the deal falls through.

Subject: | Pulling Cherry Max Rivets |
I am using 3/32" Cherry Max countersunk rivets to attach small anchor plates
to the back of my skins for attaching access cover plates. Occasionally a
rivet stem will break off above the factory head of the rivet. I'm not sure
but I think the stem may be pulling further into the shop head of the rivet
than needed. Is there any way to prevent this? Do I need to use a small
washer on the shop head side?
Thanks,
Dave Van Lanen

For some reason the cherry max flush rivets are prone to this. I have
hundreds of them on my Sonex and at least 20 ended up this way. Most of
them can be fix by simply tapping in the protruding piece with a hammer
and nailset.

Subject: | Fuel tank caps for 601XL |
My building partner and I have discovered that the fuel tank caps that
Zenith sent when screwed on do not sit flush with the wing. Apparently
the vendor that sent the caps changed them without notifying Zenith.
Zenith will not offer any help other than telling us to find out what
other builders are doing to correct the problem. Has anyone else had
this problem, and does anyone know of a fix? Thanks.

Robert,
Are the caps bottoming out on the welded tank bung before
the outer flange meets the skin?

I had the same problem on one tank. I took a dremel tool with a metal
cutting bit and cut a 45 degree countersink about 3/16" all the way
around. It wasn't easy, but I did it without messing up the threads.
