Subject: | Rudder pedal tension - taildragger |
On the taildragger version, are there any recommendations on keeping tension
on the rudder cables. Zenith forgot to address this in the manual. After
calling them they recommended springs attached to the firewall. I have heard
of making a bellcrank with rods attached to the rudder pedals for a
counter-balance so proper tension can be maintained. Any suggestions or
recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What a great looking machine. Put some wings on it and it might fly. Years ago
my wife and I rode our bikes from Houston to Austin. It was a real adventure.
Good luck on your quest for Oshkosh.

Hi Jeff,
The delicate nature of the rudder hinge points would suggest perhaps the
bellcrank idea is advised. A fixed-geometry would prevent excessive wear
or damage when
standing on the pedals for braking or turning etc. You might have to
place the bellcrank forward of the firewall like the nose geared
steering is done.

Dave,
I think floats and a paddle wheel would be the shortest route across lake Winnebago.

Subject: | Question about Construction Standards/rivet clearance |
I'm at the point of aligning the top skin on the wing. I'm trying
align the pre-drilled holes with the ribs, one of which isn't
perfectly aligned. The problem is the distance to the bend radius.
If I read the Construction Standards correctly as long as the rivet
hole doesn't intersect the bend radius its considered safe. Can
someone verify this or give me a correct interpretation?

Subject: | IndUS Aviation Rumors |
In addition I received this from IndUS when I asked about their absence in the
exhibitors list for OSH:
"Yes we are at Oshkosh - We changed spaces, so maybe they didn't catch up with
that on the website - we are in space 308, just south of AeroShell square, and
in the new LSA mall.
Which aircraft are you interested in?
Thanks for the note -
