Not only did your link turn out to be three lines long (hint: tinyurl.com),
but it was 404-compliant.

Sorry, probably there is not possible to link the files from the yahoo groups. So I attached the doc to this post. The original is available on the CriCri yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CriCri/ under "Files" section (needed free registration to access).

"Michel was approached by Chris Heintz (of notorious Zenair)"...
Nice unbiased reporting there. The rest of the document is in the same
vein. Nothing there we haven't been told before.
You've only posted in this thread, on this subject. I wonder what axe you
have to grind.

Dick
This is the original crude gascolator supplied with the kit we used this as
a water trap on the cockpit floor from wing tanks before pumping fuel up to
our header tank & use a aircraft type gascolator (Aircraft Spruce ? P/N
10550 which contains a fine filter above the sedement bowl on the low point
from header tank. PS if you use this with Mogas you need to buy a viton
gasket & change original)
You donot say if you are using a header tank or have a engine fuel pump we
have a facet 40106 in parallel with our continental 0 -200 engine pump, some
have placed this as a booster pump in series.
If you are using the wing tanks only some have placed a facet pump at the
tank outlet in each wing check the archives
The original zenith drawing showed the fuel runing from each wing tank via
an individual isolating valve to eitherside of your aluminum box gascolator
which was bolted to cockpit floor with a drain valve from bottom hole
through floor. & the other outlet as an input to an electric fuel pump to
engine or header tank..
We had to fit a tank selector switch for our UK inspector you will probably
not have too in US

Hi petr,
The article written was very interesting, but one must realize the
authors of that piece may have slightly exaggerated the position and
weight of details regarding
Chris Heinz involvement in the "Cri Cri". I've seen the aircraft and
it's size and design would puts it in a very high-risk category to begin
with.
What ever actual agreements were made between CH and the original
designer, we'll never really know as we weren't there. Design flaws
attributed to CH would also be questioned because there is no
substantive history on who actually made the questionable changes or if
they were actually within CH's perview.
It's easy to smear a persons name with the envy or jealousy that the
author conveys, but the character of the Chris Heinz I know, isn't
anywhere near as "casual" about actual proper design or his personal and
business relationships. He and his family have earned the complete trust
of a lot of people including myself, by the careful practice and total
dedication to doing the right thing.
This 3rd party article should not have been submitted, but it does serve
to point out that there are people who cannot cope with Zenith's
extraordinary success.
I still celebrate what Chris and his family for what they've done for
all of us and wish them the best.
Thank you for the article,

Cessna used to (may still) use a sheet of black leather-like vinyl glued
on top of the instrument panel. I had to replace it on my '75 172M in
1997. Probably would have lasted longer if the previous owner and I had
used Armorall once in a while.

So what have people covered their glare shields (forward skin under
the
windscreen) with? I'd like something tougher than paint but that will
stand
up in the sun. But not something with a nap like carpet that will be
hard to
clean. One recommendation was auto rock guard paint. I'd cover it in
thin
vinyl or plastic if I could count on it lasting. I'm going to
experiment on
a piece of test metal with black Plasti-dip (the stuff used to coat
handles
on tools). I don't think it should make a difference but this is on a
701.
Other suggestions?

Hi, Craig and Paul.
I've used black Cordura nylon fabric (with pretty good results) over the metal
panels on the Grumman Tiger. It tends to shrink a bit in the heat from sunlight,
so it's nice and taut whenever it sees sun.
In these installations, however, it's wrapped and glued under the edges of the
aluminum sheet metal, so it's not real obvious to me how it would work with a
701 if it's not tucked under the edges.

Subject: | RE: Glare shield coverings |
While researching this I came across a little bit of information about
adhesives from an RV-8 builder. He covered his glare shield with vinyl
leatherette:
http://www.kilohotel.com/rv8/article.php?story=Glare_shield_2
"I spent quite a bit of time working on the glare shield. I agonized over
how to glue the vinyl covering to the aluminum glare shield. Many people use
a spray-on adhesive, so I purchased a can of 3M 77 adhesive and did a test
on some scrap. It seemed to work well, but you had to be quite quick to get
the vinyl in place after spraying the adhesive, and I was not too happy
about the risk of over-spray. I searched the RV-List archives, and found one
person that used rubber cement, so I tried that on some more scrap. It was
not compatible with the vinyl - the vinyl puckered up and did not lay flat.
I looked at the dozens of different adhesives at a local craft store, and
found a tube of Goop adhesive that claimed to have all the right properties
- sticks to vinyl and aluminum, and withstands fairly high temperatures. I
did a test on some scrap, and it did a good job.
The glare shield turned out very nice. I put a small bead of Goop around the
edges, as there didn't seem to be any point to trying to glue down the whole
surface. For the hole where the defrost fan is, I left some extra material
and wrapped it around the edge of the hole and glued it to the bottom of the
glare shield."

Anyone-
How do you plumb a small header tank so that you can have a "Sight
gage" fuel indicator? Locker tanks outboard and cental fuel pumps.
