Hi Joe,
Aircraft Spruce carries a variety of insulating and soundproofing
materials. In my 601 I used 'The Insulator'
(http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/insulator.php) and it
seems to work well.

List:
The plane is finally in the paint shop, hopefully it will soon be in the air.
Now that my garage, living room, basement workshop and family room are
almost clear of parts I find that I have many items left that I did not
use so I am putting them up for sale.
I found that when you get parts from Zenith, Zenair and Zenair Europe
there are overlaps in what each supplies.
I am selling the parts for about 2/3 of the Zenith or Aircraft Spruce
price, shipping will be extra. Contact me off list if you are interested
in any of this stuff.
Part # Description # Mikes Price
6B9-3 Toe brake pedals 2 $24.00
6G3-1 Main Landing Gear 1 $500.00
6G3-4 Main Gear Support 2 7.00
6K2-1 Support Channel 1 14.00
6K2-2 Center Console 1 8.00
ACS 05-09436 A-820 friction lock throttle 1 33.00

MC-5 Matco MC-5 brake cylinders 2 108.00
P 10048 Facet 40105 Fuel pump 1 28.00
I have no idea what the following dual throttle parts are worth, or even
if they fit a non-rotax installation. If you think you can use them I can
send you a copy of the European assembly guide which shows how they are
used. Make me an offer.

I bought a carpet runner made to go down the center of minivans. I cut it up into
pieces that fit the floor in front of each seat and a piece that fits the
heel support. I fastened the pieces with snaps. The male snaps are riveted to
the floor and the female snaps are crimped on the carpet. The runner has a
light rubber backing with a low pile carpet. The carpet doesn't unravel when
you cut it.

I have found some re-cycled material at Wal-mart in the automotive section.
It reminds me of outdoor/kitchen carpet. I have been thinking about using
that.
Can't remember the specifics, (weight, size, price), but a trip down to the
store might be worth a look.

No I didn't weigh them. But since you asked, I went to the plane and weighed them.
The grand total is 17.5 ounces. This includes the carpet and 24 female
snaps. Add about another 0.5 ounces for the male snaps in the plane.

Hi Joe,
I recently went thru the soundproofing process using the "fireproof
foam" from
Aircraft Spruce. Not a difficult job. My Journal Section 12 in October
covers
the experience rather well and the test that followed. I am very
satisfied having
done this, as it did quiet the plane considerably. Hit the link below
and spool down to
Oct 27 - 28 and you'll see a page or so of how I did it.

HI Gig,
I put 3/8-inch soundproofing foam on the floor from firewall to seats
and a light carpet on that
which puts the heal channel nearly flush with it. That improved the
sound level as much as any of it..

Hi Ken,
I'd suggest burning a bit of it first. Some of these will burn intensely
or give off
poisonous fumes and some will not support a flame.
Should be fire resistant if you ever "plan to have" a fire in the plane.

For those of you fortunate to live near an aircraft manufacturing plant, consider
contacting them about buying their interior scraps and leftovers.
When I was working for Learjet, I was able to obtain $400/ yard carpet and $600
leather for $50 a bag (1982 prices). Each shipset bag contained enough matching
leftovers from a Lear 35 or 45 to re-do 2 or 3 four place general aviation
aircraft. It was all treated with flame retardant to FAR specs.

Gig,
I used automotive trunk liner. It's very light weight carpet. I tested it for
flammability. I had to hold it directly in the flame of my gas stove before
it would light. When it did it smoldered more than burned and didn't give off
much smoke, but did burn. I filled in the areas around the heel support with
sound proofing mat from ACS, and then put the trunk liner over that, giving the
floor a level appearance. You get this stuff at most autoparts stores.

I live about 50 miles north of Dallas (Van Alstyne) and plan to drive to the
