I have a small crack in my canopy on my 601xl under the side flashing. Any
suggestions on how to prevent it from spreading such as adhesives and or
drilling the end of the crack. Thanks.

I am working on a 601XL and have a crack in the canopy around a screw hole
under the side flashing. What is the best way to prevent the crack from
spreading, i.e. drilling the end of the crack, adhesives, etc. Any info
      would be appreciated.

Drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it from spreading.
Then get some methylene chloride (or a water-thin plexiglas adhesive)
and apply it to the crack. The thin liquid should wick into the crack
and fuse the edges together. Wipe up any excess liquid immediately or
it will attack the surface of the plexiglas

I like the idea of using a inkjet water slide decals. It is inexpensive and you
can do pretty much anything you want with your drawing software and inkjet printer.
Print it, then thin coat of lacquer, cut out of the sheet and you're done.
If you don't like the look, just spray water over it and you can remove it
      without any trace.

      Hi Wade,

You might check with a local print service like Staples, or Kwik Copy and see if
      they can make your labels.

I like Pavel's idea for the decal paper. You could make a ton of labels on a single
sheet of paper using your computer and inkjet printer. Thanks for the info,
      Pavel.

Stop drill it and then fill the hole with epoxy.

Bryan, where can you get methylene chloride?

All I can find on-line is either 50 gallons or 1/2 pint for ~$8.00 but they have
      a $30.00 minimum order.

I think this works for most colors except for white on clear. The P-touch
brother label maker can make this combo but this tape is not offered in most
stores. It can be found on the net.

I had a crack develop in my canopy bubble. the first two times I tried to stop
drill it, the pressure just made the crack run on further.? In the third try,
I finally stopped it.? My EAA tech rep said the way to do it is to stop drill
the just BEYOND the end of the crack.? That way, you KNOW it won't run on. (20-20
      hindsight).?

Because of the location, I was able to replace my crack with a VistaVent.

I have a small crack in my canopy on my 601xl under the side
flashing. Any suggestions on how to prevent it from spreading such as adhesives
and or drilling the end of the crack. Thanks.

Hello group ,I have just come up with a bright (cheap for me ) idea .I
am in the process of completing my instrument panel .I only need a few
white on clear labels to identify a few things like flaps, trim ect.
Instead of me buying a Brother P label maker for a one time use is there
someone on the site that has gone this way before me that may have the
equipment to make me a few labels .If so I can sent a list of what I
      need . Thanks

| Subject: | Avmap EKP IV and XM weather |

I know this is off topic for this list, but I'm trying to find people who are using
the Avmap EKP IV GPS and XM weather.

I recently added the just released XM weather option on my EKP IV GPS. The problem
I'm having is that I only receive METARs and nothing else. I'm hoping someone
on this list has the same GPS and weather combo as I do so I can ask some
questions and compare notes. Please email me at annken100(at)aol.com

I have spoken with tech support from XM, Avmap, and WxWorx and so far I'm told
that I am one of only three people who has this problem. Oddly enough, the three
of us activated our receivers around the same time.

      Thank you,

Look up Tap plastics online. They sell it as plexiglass adhesive in small
bottles and have applicators like a squeeze bottle with sirynge. Don't know
if they have online sales but if not you can call one of their stores and
they will mail stuff to you. I bought fiberglass supplies from them that
      way.

I agree with Jeff - just beyond the end of the crack 3/32 will normally do.

As I recall, Aircraft spruce carries a water-thin plexiglas adhesive.
Most likely, the main ingredient of this is methylene chloride or
      something similar.
