Jay, I think your remark "We are putting a max of 40 pounds on it." could
be misleading. The max force the control cables will see depends on the force
the pilot puts on the joy stick. The force on the control surfaces at max
deflection times the mechanical advantage for the system would normally be the
max cable force but when the controls have a stop then the pilot becomes the
limiting force, again you have to use the system mechanical advantage. Jerry

guessing that the weak link is the nicopress sleeves WE install. If any testing
is to be done, it probably should be on a made up cable with both ends

Well get to work on that Ron. I'll be mounting wings shortly. :)

Maybe I am misleading. OK, say we put 80 pounds on it.? A safety factor of 25.?
Or if you are up to it, 100 pounds.? Still a safety factor of 20.? Most engineering
applications work with a safety factor of 2 or 3.? My point was (and still
is) that we are not anywhere close to challenging the strength of the cable.
It is the terminations we should be concerned about.

I live in St George, Utah. I've been trying to find somewhere within 300 miles.
Its within my driving distance, and would allow me to pickup my own load.
Thanks,

Hi Derek,
Shipping is a huge portion of aluminum prices. That means the best
vendor choice depends on where you are located. It also depends on
how much metal you order at one time.
Aircraft Spruce is a good source of small quantities for UPS shipment.
Perhaps you could tell us where you are located and how much aluminum
you plan to buy at each order so we can make an intelligent recommendation.

Subject: | Nuvite Polish system in Canada |
Well, after doing a lot of research I'll definitely be shining my
airplane using the Nuvite system. I also found an excellent step-by-
step manual for Sonex owners that is a good "how to."
www.sonexaircraft.com/documents/instruction_sheets/nuvite_polishing.pdf
For anyone in Canada interested in polishing 6061, there is an
official supplier in Toronto and he gave me excellent help - so I'll
pass along his coordinates fyi:
Appreciate your passing on my coordinates to your fellow plane owners
and will be pleased to hear from them. My card is attached which you
can forward on to them by email. Also tell them to visit the Minoo
website www.minoocorporation.com as all the information and downloads
are available off the website.
Keep in touch.

Subject: | Re: Corvair engine mount for sale |
I posted this and hit the road for the holiday. I really didn't expect a big response
over the holiday. I was wrong. A bunch of people have asked where I
am. I am in NW Arkansas.
I already have a tentative deal with a guy in Dallas. If it falls though I will
post again. Let me know if you need any engine parts.
Thanks,
John
