Dave, I have both the Snake angle drill and the normal angle drill. In all honesty
except for a very few rare cercumstances where the snake drill has saved
my bacon, it has been pretty much useless. Angle drills have a clutch built into
them that needs a certain amount of pressure on them to opporate and my US
Tools snake drill is very challenging to use.

Subject: | First Flight - Canopy for sale |
I have be a subscriber for 2 years and have learned a lot from you all. This is
my first posting. My 601XL kit was delivered Nov. 1 2006 and it made it's first
flight Nov. 17. Gus finished the Corvair FWF install and flew the plane
on the 17th. My plane was converted to the new 650 canopy (with a change in the
split seal) and the 650 rudder. The plane is regestered as a 601XL. The canopy
conversion was done with Jon Croke and Gus in the DVD from homebuilthelp.com
(I am also in the video). So I have a 601 canopy kit complete with a Todds
canopy, upgraded struts, for sale.
The plane is being painted and a 5th bearing being installed this week. I hope by Christmas the complete plane will be posted at www.flywithgus.com. If you are interested in the canopy please email gus@flywithgus.com. Also note this is the nice Todd canopy that he can't make or sale any more because of his agreement with Zenith (he makes the new 650 canopys). Gus says also to note the phone number on his site has changed.

Subject: | Fuel sending units |
Does anyone have pictures for the fuel sending unit installations that
were put on the top on the wings tanks?
If I could go back and redo my tanks, I would not install the senders on
the tank ends.
Man o man, wait til you need to remove yours. Then, the re install is a
killer...
I remember someone on this site that did the modification displayed
pictures.......
My plan is to do the same....

Subject: | Re: Fuel sending units |
I'm pretty sure there is a photo or two on my site www.peoamerica.net/N601WR. I did the top mount during the build because it just seemed like a good idea. My original plans showed the top mount and then when I got the wing and fuel kit there was an insert with the side mount. I was pretty sure at the time I'd be better off with a hole in the top of the tank rather than a hole in the side as far as future leaks went and either way the wing was probably going to have to be opened up if the sender needed to be changed.
Looking back I wish I had done the access port thing and will if I have to open
the wings up in the future.

Subject: | A5 rivets, Z angles for sale |
Continuing to clean out the shop, I found I have a left-over unopened
bag of 1000 A5 rivets that I'd like to sell. (Actually, I have two
bags, but I'm going to keep one, just in case!)
1000 A5 (5/32") Avex rivets - $60
(0.09 each from Zenith)
Shipping weight will be 5#.
Please contact me off list if you want these rivets.
I also have 10 (yup, 10!) left over 4-ft Z angles from some mods I
decided not to make. These would be expensive to ship piece-wise, but I
would be willing to ship the lot. If you can pick them up in Mesa, you
can have as few as you need, or I would trade 1-1 for standard L angles.
Another option - I will probably go to the Corvair College in
California in January and could take them there.
10 4-ft Z angles - $50
($7.50 each from Zenith)
Shipping weight will be ~3#, depending on weight of shipping tube.
Please contact me off list if you want these angles.

Gig
Thanks for the pictures. I tried to email you but it came back as a bad
address.
I wanted to ask about your wing top mounted gas sender.
Would you please give me the measurements on where I should cut into my
wing skin ....
Thanks
