I disagree with your assessment of what this list is or should be about Juan.=C2- I certainly could be wrong, but my guess is that most of us do not care in the slightest what you, Rick, William, Andy and the rest think about politics, guns and what no t. I know for sure that I don=99t. This latest flurry makes me appreciate a ll the more the majority of members here who contribute without drama.=C2- =C2- Do not archive Bill =C2- =C2- Juan said:=C2- you are missing the point. the list is no longer just an info exchange, but of people who have the same desires and goals of building an aircraft and that have built a relationship with each other, through that common thread. We each k now that we can ask questioins about building, issues that are not about buildin g, support each other, especially in tough times, and know that in the end we h ave the support of other builders.

The subject line clearly stated that it was a non building question. If you have no interest in such posts, you can simply delete them without reading them. Let's face facts, this is an unmoderated list, there are going to be posts that don't interest you and there's not much you can do about it, that's just the way it is. It doesn't do much good to post your own off topic posts in protest of other posts, that often just fans the flames and keeps the topic going. You just have to take it in stride, ignore the posts you have no interest in an go on. It helps if you use the view by thread option in your mail reader, then you can delete multiple posts at once. If it gets too bad, you can usually create a rule that deletes them automatically. If you have a slow connection, most mail readers have the option to download only the headers, then you can delete the unwanted posts before you waste time downloading the entire message and can download only those you are interested in. You can also block posts from certain individuals if they have a habit of posting a lot of junk you don't want to read. It may be inconvenient, but that's the reality of the internet. It also helps if people would change the subject line when they go off on a tangent from a previous subject, trim the quotations to the bare minimum and use "do not archive", but oftentimes that doesn't happen. The worst part of this whole thing is that the original post asked a simple question that had no political content at all. This may not have been the best place to ask the question; it wasn't about building but at least it was related to the subject of flying and some people on this list have some knowledge and can give a useful answer to the question. But some people have such strong feelings about the original subject that the mere mention of it triggers a political response and then the flames begin. Such is life. The only mistake I see in the drawing is that it states that the circuit is shown in the flaps up position but it is actually shown in the flaps down position. At least it is in my version of the plans. If you get the motor terminals backward for some reason, it's a simple matter to reverse them and correct the situation if everything else is correct. I actually found the drawing a bit confusing at first because it showed the up limit switch wired differently than the down limit switch as far as what was connected to the NC and COM terminals. I redrew the diagram so that the COM terminal of each switch is wired to the motor and the NC terminal of each switch is wired back to the DPDT switch. This doesn't change the electrical function of the circuit in any way but, with both circuits drawn identically, it makes it easier to see what's going on and it reduced the clutter in the diagram some by having fewer lines crossing other lines. Tuesday, April 21 to Monday, April 27 at Linder Regional Airport (KLAL), Lakeland, Florida. It's a smaller venue than Oskosh, so it has a bit more relaxed atmosphere with smaller crowds. Many of the same vendors show up for it. If you plan on camping by your airplane, beware of the fire ants. They spray for them but the bastards are hard to keep under control. The main campground is generally safe from them though. > > > When is SnF...? > > I've never been there. (WARNING! The following is ONLY my OPINION. It is not FACTUAL in content. YMMV.) I actually prefer SnF to Osh in many respects. It's easier to see and get around, being a much smaller venue. Parking is easier, unless there's a backup due to thundershowers flooding the lot (like earlier this year). Folks are generally friendlier and the overall stress level is lower. Not as much nearby lodging nearby, we frequently assume that we'll drive 15 to 20 miles in each day in order to avoid outrageously priced local hotel rooms. Plenty of lodging available in the Kissimmee area, given its proximity to MickeyLand. Flying commercially into Tampa or Orlando is super easy, and fares are generally reasonable. The fly-in approach and coordination isn't nearly as well executed as Osh, however. Despite the NOTAM on altitudes, speeds, frequencies, and arrival routes, it's more like the wild west inbound. Definitely has a NASCAR feel to it (at least it did the last time I flew in). Pat, Sun and Fun is a lot like Oshkosh, but somewhat smaller. But it does have one big plus, it's not spread out all over the place like Oshkosh,,(oh My acking feet). The weather is usually very nice that time of the year as well. The also have night time aerobatics, that have to be seen to be believed. Bill, Sears (Canada) sells one for around CD$50. If you find it at your local store, should be cheaper. It's the size of a "torpedo level". Paul's suggestion is pretty inexpensive, but it has a smaller base, which would make it somewhat less precise. From: "ashontz" <ashontz@nbme.org>
Anyone here have any pictures of their fuel doors? I'm thinking of going with a cap that's flush with the tank, not flush with the skin and instead having a fuel dor that pops open to reveal the fule cap itself plus my vent connection. Just wondering how much room I really have to play with under there and how large of a hole I can get away with (checked the FARs and the only thing I found was hole repairs etc...) Fogured I'd be riveting a thicker skin under the wing skin, but then of course the whole she-bang is close to the leading edge skin rivet line. Just wondering how other people dealt with this problem and/or if anyone else is even using fuel doors rather than flush caps. Stan- I refuse to own a cell phone or they would be calling me constantly from work. Looks like I'll check out Home Depot or Lowes. A 9" should work for me. I have an APP on my IPhone called Clinometer and I believe that will permit me to level the magnetometer so that it is lined up with the EFIS. I have not done the final installation nor flown the aircraft yet so I will find later whether the gadget can do the job.
Yeah, the gummint would LOVE everyone disarmed, that way they can more easily shove socialism (communism with patience) down everyone's throats. There's a reason the right to bear arms is allegedly protected by the Constitution, for good reason too. We're sliding down a slippery slope here in the US.
Why in the world should anyone want to protect himself? That is what the gov'ment is for? (Laughing my head off) (:>) Jay in Dallas Do not archive What that F**K has socialism to do with any of this? In my opinion the majority of the violence in the US is caused by the fact that about every moron is allowed to carry a weapon. Why is it that in civilized countries (i.e. the old world) kids don't by accident blow their brains out with daddies gun? Gas stations and seven-elevens aren't being robbed? A Vice President almost blows his friend's brains out? You guys really have to wake up and smell the coffee. The majority of the population consists of idiots and shouldn't be trusted with deadly weapons. The way to go is: a ban on firearms and YES raise the damn taxes so I don't have to slam into a million potholes when I drive to work. Only people that have NEVER been abroad assume that the US has the best infrastructure in the world. I have circumnavigated the globe and believe me; we're not much better off than a third world country. Our energy grid is outdated, our levies suck, the roads look like shit and our educational system is ranked one of the lowest in the world (Japan and the Netherlands are number one and two by the way). Hooray for capitalism! That free market model really works well for us! Come on. Stop parroting what your parents and the GOP made you believe and form yourself an educated opinion. I love this country but I do get sick and tired of people who think we're all that and a bag of chips. We can make this place so much better if we're willing to open our eyes and when we're adopting what works well in other parts of the world. And now back to flying, because that's one of the things the US excels in: our general aviation rocks. Sorry for the rant. --

Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=218799#218799

Andy, I used the Zenith flanges and they present very little problem or wind resistance from what I see. Been thinking about your using the sending units in the filler end. How are you going to measure the fuel in the low side of the tank? I am most interested in how much fuel is left in the tank as it nears the empty mark. With the sending units mounted on the high end you must be using a real long arm to get the float to the other end of the tank. -------- Ron Lendon, Clinton Township, MI WW Corvair with Roy's Garage 5th bearing Zodiac XL, ScrapBuilder ;-) http://www.mykitlog.com/rlendon Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=218801#218801

A good airplane building site: http://forums.matronics.com/viewforum.php?f=2 Thank you all for your informative posts. A good Politics site http://www.politicalcrossfire.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5 They have promised not to discuss building airplanes , -since that is not why people visit the site-if we agree to stop discussing politics. Sounds like a good deal. (: Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=218829#218829
