Subject: | Re: Y stick problem |
I have the standard length Y stick and enjoy it. As most everyone is saying the
plane is sensitive to control input particularly in pitch. For that reason,
and comfort, I almost always fly with my forearm on the arm rest and grasping
the stick below the Y, effectively shortening the stick. I put my hands back on
the normal grip area only when I need to use the radio (that's where the PTT
button is) or during take off and landing. You should be OK if you shorten it
some.

Subject: | Re: Y stick problem |
You guys have seen others do this, and most AMD's also, take the opportunity to
turn the center arm rest into a storage box. Here is mine. The box top pivots
towards the passenger seat and allows enough room for my wallet, keys, extra
pens, small LED flashlights, etc. The aft portion has a drink holder for a
water bottle.
When I have my roll axis AP engaged, I too find myself holding the stick just below
the Y to control altitude.
Love the Y-stick!

I need a wiring harness for a King KT76TSO transponder with alt encoder and
keep hitting a brick wall trying to find out how to get one, or even exactly
what I need.
All help or leads appreciated.

Bill, Dr Pahnke reply got supressed, but if I look at the original, I can
extract the following URL and text:
bomar.biz/download.php?view.1714=22>http://bomar.biz/download.php?view.1714

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Try this. It is a pdf. file of the installation manual for your
transponder with harness wiring diagram. You, or an avionics shop should
be able to make it.http://bomar.biz/download.php?view.1714

Subject: | Formation Flying |
Gang:
I am looking to start a formal formation flying program for 601XL/650
aircraft, along the same lines as the existing non-aerobatic program for
Grummans as part of FFI (Formation Flying Inc.). FFI is the group that
certifies non-warbird demo groups (including RV's) for the FAA.
I am looking for experienced formation pilots in the Southwest region
(Ex-military is good.) to form a core group to work out the details and
re-hone their skills, and who will later help non-experienced pilots
learn the best kind of flying there is! I am in the Phoenix area.
I have already done a draft 601XL/650 supplement to the T-34 formation
flying manual, which forms the basis for all FFI standards and
procedures and am working on the briefing guides.
I would like interested aviators to reply, stating their interest,
aircraft and engine, experience level and whether they would be willing
to travel (and how far) for practice clinics.
Thanks,
Andy Elliott

Hi Andy,
I am strongly in favor of all sorts of group flying activities.
Formation flying is a mystery to me - the only experience I have with
it nearly resulted in a mid-air collision. So, I would greatly
appreciate the training/learning part of your program.

Subject: | Lightning holes flange dies & sizes |
Do not archive
Was there a message recently from a Builder seeking to borrow flanging
dies? I thought I might have seen one, but can't find it.
I have steel dies made to Zenith specs on the 701 plans. They have been
altered to also fit within the channels required for 601's.
They have been used already by several Listers and are available to be
loaned again if needed.
They are 65, 95, and 115mm.
With the new ZA models, have the lightning hole dimensions remained the
same, or are there new sizes?
Thanks,
Randy, Las Vegas

Subject: | Y Stick Decision |
All-
Thanks for your input. I think I'm going to go with the cut down
stick.
Larry, I decided on the Y stick rather than the dual stick option
long ago based on your access information. But, if everyone's holding
below the Y anyway and you don't have the ears protruding, so much the
better. On top of everything else, it's not like you're limiting
controllability on either side. In addition, I don't need the space for
my GPS- it's in the porker of a panel I finally got ready to wire. I
have no illusions- my project is going to make the scales groan. As long
as I can outrun a C150...

All-
Thanks for your responses- everything might work out all right. The
question is, is there a difference between a King KT76TSO and a KT76A?
The King site isn't any help. If anyone has a manual for the KT76TSO,
could you scan off the connector portion? I have a lead on the dash A.

Bill, you might want to consider a "convertible" setup:
