Subject: | Re: Fwd: Re: Is Your CH601XL/650 a 1320 lb Airplane or a 1041 |
Terry,
Do your computer models show, with cables properly tensioned, that the left and
right aileron have an inherent dynamic dampening effect since one is heavier
than the other (trim tab motor) and one is up when the other is down?
Do your computer models show, with loose cables and flying too fast, that the heavy
left aileron starts a flutter that takes the left wing off first?
Could you run a simulation re: a small drag strip on the lower portion of the left
aileron (easily attached to the trim access panel plate or the plate itself
with a new lip) to see if that would aerodynamically balance the left aileron
in a low/no tension scenario as one approached flutter speed?
I think you know my final two questions: does your computer model show that aileron
trim should be deployed during a flutter onset scenario and if so, which
way?
Is there an aileron trim situation (up/down) that contributes to flutter?
Thanking you in advance,
Sabrina

Actually that isn't even what the definition calls for 138 mph at sea level in
level flight at maximum continuous power.
So let's say max power on a plane is 3200 rpm and at that speed I get 145 mph CAS
at sea level. If I, as the builder, say that max continuous power is 2800 and
that rpm gives me 138 mph at sea level, I'm LSA legal.

Hi all
Considering a 701 panel layout it looks like an Enigma is
small enough to fit but a voyage would be to big.
Any one flying with an Enigma or other EFIS in a 701 if so are you
happy with its performance ?

Have you looked at the Dynon?

Clive,
I have Dynon D-100 that I'm very pleased with. Futures if desired,
include auto pilot from Dynon.

I'm not flying yet but a Voyager fits in my 701 panel. Pictures attached. I
have seen a few 701s with Enigmas. I believe Gus Warren's Corvair-powered
701 is one of them. The attached pictures with the black panel are Gus's
701. I don't recall where I saw the other one, perhaps the Zenith site.
BTW: if you haven't already you might consider joining the MGL user-to-user
group on Yahoo and asking your question there. Among the 700+ members are
the head and chief designer of MGL (Rainier), his second in command (Nicol)
and most of the world-wide dealers:
