| Subject: | FAA Inspection for New AW Certificates. |

I contacted the EAA this morning to see what they knew about the issue. The person
I talked with had not heard of any decision to suspend granting AW certificates
      for Experimental 601XLs.

He agreed that if such were happening it would be a precedent setting move on the
FAA's part and that the EAA would be quite concerned with such an action. He
or someone in EAA Government relations office will make calls today to the FAA
and follow up and see what they can find out. I told him I'd give him a call
      Tuesday morning for an update.

I will, of course, let the forum know any info I receive.

I received the insurance renewal for my 601xl today. The premium decreased
by $23.00 from last year. Draw your own conclusions.

And then there was silence as the crowd wondered, what can I speculate about now
or should we wait for the test results/conclusions.

      Some more information.

I spoke today with the DAR that will be doing the inspection on my plane when the
time comes. He says that he has been notified by the FAA to check the cable
tension on all 601XLs he inspects and to make sure there is a log entry of the
tension as measured by the builder and that that the device used to measure
      the tension was properly calibrated.

So there is not any sort of FAA wide ban in the inspection and certification of
      EXP-HB 601XLs.
