I bought two small signal diodes from radio shack and hooked the tach into the negative wire from ignition module to the coil on each system through a diode. The diodes isolate the two ignition systems from each other but allow the signal from either to get out to the tach. My system is set up so that only one system will run at any time. Here's a drawing of what I did. When I first hooked the system up, I had the diodes in the wrong way and had to reverse them. I think I corrected this drawing to reflect that.
