During my senior year in dental school I had a general dentistry instructor who have lived and practiced in Ankorage for many years before coming to teach in New Orleans. He claimed that Alaskans had threatened that if Texas didn't quit bragging about being such a big state, Alsaska might cut itself into two states making Teaxs the third largest state. Ed Do Not Archive I lived in Alaska during the start of the oil boom and a lot of Texans showed up to help. You could go to a cafe in Anchorage for breakfast and order a regular glass of orange juice off the menu, or you could order the "Texas Size", you know, the little one. Regards, Randy, Las Vegas

Hi Sabrina: You are truly an amazing young woman. You've discussed your large number of changes and/or the modifications you made in construction of your personal 601. You also list here your favorite top 10 of those. You indicate that you had your plans with you at the Zenith gathering in Mexico, Mo. last week-end and plan to again have them with you at the Zenith Dinner at Airventure. That would suggest that you have documented and/or created drawings containing some detail for each of your modifications and changes on those plans. Having said that...I'd like to ask if you would give some consideration to copying some of all of those changes for the rest of us builders to see, review, consider, and possibly adopt those that fit our needs to our own builds? You could perhaps post them on this forum in groups of 5 or 10. If you would rather not copy your plans, would you consider taking a photo of the top 10 or 20 and posting the photo's of your changes to only the specific area's affected on those plan pages? It occurs to me that a concern for the ole "liability issues" may be the cause of any reluctance, on your part to do this....yet you are making your changes available for all at the "gatherings" to see. If you would rather not post them yourself, here, would you consider letting someone at the upcoming dinner photo them and post those photos on this forum instead for those requesting details and not able to attend Airventure? You've received several requests, now this one included, to share more details of your excellent thinking. Would any of these suggestion be acceptable to you to provide some of that requested detail? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sabrina" <chicago2paris@msn.com> Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2009 11:08 AM Subject: Zenith-List: Re: What did you do today? > > My favorite top 10 mods are the ones I came up with on my own, not to say > someone did not invent it before me, but I had not seen it: > > #1 The aileron attach gussets and AS5 inboard rivet. > #2 Lengthening the aircraft 3" so FAA/PMA plugs would fit under the cowl > on an O-200A engine. > #3 My tub of foam forward fuselage/turtle deck mods > #4 My panel/foot rest (includes center spar/cabin floor mods) > #5 My canopy: it ejects and I added a rail wedge to make canopy fitting > easy. > #6 My doubling of 6B-8-9, trimming and flipping the second lower bearing > support 180 degrees so it locks the nose strut in place even when the nylo > bearing wants to give. > #7 My fuel system. Hi Sabrina I agree with Bob. There are many builders across the world that will never have the privilege of getting to any of those events & we would love to see more. I am very intrigued by some of the changes you have brought about. Mike in South Africa Scratch building a 650 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=250767#250767

I have to think about it... in the meantime, ask any questions you would like, but lets stick to one item at a time... this is what this list should be about... I could not have built my airplane without this list and all your guys past input to this list so I owe you a lot... are we done with the flap gap stop? are we done with the cowling? (No complaints that I messed with the design by placing the prop 3" further away from the firewall on an angled engine mount designed for no prop spacer?) All- Do you have to pre-register for the Zenith dinner at Oshkosh? I couldn't find anything on the Zenith website. After 20+ years as an EAA member I can finally make it to Mecca. do not archive Bill Naumuk Townville, Pa. HDS N601MG/Corvair 95%

Actually, go to www.zenith.aero and look at the leftmost column at the bottom for EVENTS. You can click to sign up, and see who else is attending. (you can change your mind and un-attend, if need to) This method makes it much easier for the planners to get a head count accurate and early.. and see your friends that are planning to make it! C U there! The off line vote is overwhelmingly AGAINST posting any drawings since it would just tend to flame the list. So too, for those of you who do visit Air Venture 2009, please realize that the plans I am bringing are the original marked up work in progress Zenith plans, not those submitted during the AW inspection. These plans were marked up while I was 12, 13 and 14 years old, so review them as a piece of aviation history and nothing more.
