Home Depot. As Gig stated, the stuff isn't anything special at all. It just happens
to do a good job for this particular app (acrylic to wierd rubber).

The "Corvair Flight Operations Manual" is hot off the press. I picked up a copy
at Brodhead, WI last weekend (yes, I'm a Pietenpol guy) and have read most of
it. As Gary has already stated, it is a must have for any Corvair builder and
pilot. Ten articles written by ten different and experienced Corvair pilots...
this manual answered a lot of the questions I've had in the back of my mind
regarding safe limitations, test procedures, things to look for, etc.
I would recommend it to all Corvair folks, even if you are already flying your
engine.

I will miss the dinner tonight at Air Venture... I am still in Chicago, helping
my parents re-roof our house, with the rain coming we have more work to do.
To those attending it should be as Mr. Townsend intended, a quiet night...
I will hang around the Zenith booth/area on and off Friday and Saturday... hope
to see you guys and gals then...

Subject: | priming with zinc chromate? And order of build? |
Long time reader=2C rare contributor to discussions as I don't know anythin
g.
I seem to remember reading a post about an inspector who said zinc chrom
atic is neither desirable nor required. I was wondering what the current co
ncensis is on this subject.
Also=2C What is the correct order?
1. Install engine
2. Remove all clecos and prime
1. reverse above?
I am finishing up on the canopy now and wondering what the next step should
be.
Thanks

Don, I too know nothing, but:
I am priming everything: I believe I will never regret having primed, but
the chances are pretty good that, If I do not prime, I will regret it.
I wold expect that priming after the airplane is built may be a bit
difficult...
I have noticed corrosion of different pieces of aluminum I kept around for a
while (several months to a few years).
The material was kept indoors, and the atmosphere here is not particularly
bad for this.
There was no contact with paper or cardboard nor any corrosive substances.
So, I figure better to do it than to regret not having done it.
Two observations on your note:
(1) Do not expect consensus on priming !! :-)
(2) You wonder what the next step should be: I suggest celebrating! You are
almost there!
Happy building!
but do not archive.
