In fact, I was upbeat at the possibility of finding an HDS T-shirt a passerby wore and wanted to ask some questions about the 750. I have since been contacted by the guy who makes all the Zenith apparel and he confirmed that only hats were available; Mark recognized me but was engaged in a conversation with a potential 750 buyer. I realize that Oshkosh is like the Christmas buying season for the aviation industry and didn't cut in. No big deal. Back to work on the project. I have maybe two month's work left to go, that means (Considering my time estimates) I'll be flying by 2011. No big deal. > --- Never been to Oshkosh, but I have attended its little sister, Sun and Fun, since 1993 and each year have gone to the Zenith booth, where I also bought my (still unfinished) 601HDS kit in 1995. The "salesmanship" at the booth has definitely become more low key over the years. The past four or five years I've had the same experience where I've stood in the display area for as much as 45 minutes looking at/in/around the planes and not been approached by a Zenith rep of any type even though at times during the airshow, I'm the only one "looking seriously". I know they don't know me, so it has struck me as odd. Glad to see its not just me! Now, if I go to the booth and engage someone they are always polite and helpful. But, I have seen more than one potential buyer walk off after not being helped other than by me or some other builder standing nearby and see the question in the person's face. -------- Mitch Hodges N601MH (Zenith 601HDS) Builder Log at http://www.hodges.aero Wings Under Perpetual Construction Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=256014#256014 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 03:21:43 PM PST US From: "n801bh@netzero.com" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Re: Builders dinner gettogether I guess I should chime in here. I would be happy to spend a couple of hours answering questions others may have if things get busy. Maybe some form of ID as special hats and buttons indicating (Satisfied Zenith Builder) might help sales. I think it is interesting to note that you can't ride your Harley across a couple of different states because it's displacement is over 500cc, but you can build and fly your own aircraft all over the country. Something about that is funny (not funny suspicious but funny ha ha). I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's funny. Congrats Sabrina! Oh BTW, Go Cubs! Oddly enough, flying is a lot safer than driving . . . (and driving a motorcycle is really dangerous before you get past the first 6 months. If you last that long, then the sky is the limit . . .)
