    From: "sdthatcher" <s_thatcher@bellsouth.net>
As a result of obtaining a Light Sport Repairman/Inspection Certificate on my E-LSA, I finished up the aircraft inspection and took it up for a test. Here, in the mountains of North Carolina where my hangar is located, I spent a few hours just roaming the airport area with my Coolpix camera (hard to hold and fly at the same time). I had just completed setting the timing on my Corvair 100HP engine, changed the oil and plugs, tightened the tension of the cables and inspected the aircraft. So here is a portion of that flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaJjuAZmqOo&feature=channel I have an optical tach on the glareshield that provides redundancy and you may also note that several of the shots show a G-Meter on the right top of the panel. I've never exceeded between 0.6 and 1.7 nor have I exceeded Va except in very calm air. The flight was extraordinary and the 601 flew beautifully. -------- Scott Thatcher, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 601XL with Corvair, Registered as E-LSA N601EL, EAA203 28 hours and climbing. I know the feeling Mack! I didn't get mine into the air for six months after it was certified because I just had too many other things I wanted to finish before actually flying it. But, the wait is worth it. Congratulations and happy flying. I'm having a bit of fun trying to figure out where, longitudinally, the bottom of 6B17-1 should be located. 6B17 shows the top connection, and indicates that the bottom is affixed to 6B1-4. Maybe I'm staring at it and don't see it, but I haven't found the dimension to locate the bottom of 6B17-1. Obviously, those of you who are further along have done something, and probably found the dimension. Any chance of sharing this information with me? Jim, What is critical is the 90 deg angle between the torque tube and? the face of 6B17-1, both horizontally and veritcally.? Cleco 6B17-1 to 6B5-1.? Lay a tube or a rod in the holes where the torque tube goes and adjust 6B17-1 to make a 90 deg angle between it and the rod or tube for vertical alignment.? Measure from both edges of the bottom of 6B17-1 to 6B5-5 to make sure it is parallel to 6B5-5. As an aside, I don't know what you mean by "TIA", but to me it means "transient ischemic attack" - a mini stroke.? I've had one and it is a really scary thing.
