Hello, All
Has anybody used "generic" wheel pants on a 601HD/XL, as sold by AS&S? (URL
below)

I am wondering if this could be a reasonable alternative... Not ony a matter
of $, but style also.

Hi Carlos,
If you've got the 8.0 x 3 wheels, you'll find the ones made for 5 and 6
inch diameters to be a bit
awkward. I made a set for my HDS using the S-83 Michelin tires and the
fit was very good.
If you like fiberglassing, they're not that hard to do.

product that can be done

I agree with you that the NTSB report has saved lives.- However, my reaso
n for believing that is merely that many XL flights didn't take place becau
se of the report.- It is really hard to get killed in a grounded plane.
- I am not aware of any reasonable statistics about how many XLs were gro
unded and how many kept flying, but my sense from emails and other data sou

My logic leads to the conclusion that as XL flying hours increase with the
LAA action and soon to be released stuff from Chris the accidents either wi
ll or will not continue.- It is only when many are flying again that the
logic of no accident means no problem applies.
I disagree with you about the FAA.- I believe they have dropped the entir
e subject.- They cannot make experimental airplane owners do much of anyt
hing, and even if they do have some power they don't have any motivation.
- As before, each of us must make our own decision about operating our pl
anes safely.- We- should not expect any help from the nanny state in th
is area.
