Way to go, Mark! Glad to see you have joined the ranks of the flying. Just wondering......even
though you have shepherded many Lightnings to completion, was
this the first time you have made an initial flight of a new airplane?

Just wanted to let you know and encourage those that are still building
that:
Tonight I flew my 601XL for the first time. This is after 6 years, 8 mon
ths and over 1500 hours of build time. The plane flew great and is power
ed by a Jabiru 3300.
It was a short 20 minute flight over the airport. Thankfully the entire
flight was un-eventful. Many thanks to Sebastien, Nick, Roger and Caleb
at Zenith and Pete, Ben and Nick at Jabiru USA.
It took awhile but it was well worth it.
Keep building.

Throttle probably. Mixture, if mounted on the left side of the panel would need
to be shorter. How much I don't know.
The only adjustment in length (other than fine end adjustment) on those is how
you order it from ACS or how you route it. The throttle has to make a 180 degree
turn anywhere you put in on the panel.

the Corvair and MA3-SPA, right?

Caleb from ZAC got back to me and see splicing it is OK. He said to not use a
but splice, rather it should be staggered the way Paul was describing.

to splice it. Otherwise is there a good source for long piano hinges. I've looked
at ACS and McMaster. I meant to call ACS today to see if they can get it,
but it got to late in the day.

Caleb from ZAC got back to me on this and without explaining why said not to do
it. Maybe it's like Paul said, to keep it dry. I'll go by what the expert
says and stick to the plans.

Well having not tried this one theoretical problem would be connecting the
linkage to the servo. With it fixed to the main aileron you can reach
through the access hole and connect the linkage. If the servo was on the
cover you would have to connect the linkage with the servo outside the
aileron and then insert the whole assembly through the access hole. Or am I
missing something?

The reason to not attach it to the access hole is more stability is offered when
the surface the motor is attached to is large and non-interrupted.

Subject: | Sizing of brake lines |
I'm installing the brake lines for my Grove cylinders and calipers. Does anyone
have experience with them, especially the recommended sizing?
I'm leaning toward 3/16" but have been hearing reports of 1/4" systems. By the
way, my Grove gear is gun drilled and the bosses are 1/8" NPT female.
