The pilot (not me) was not injured. Damage mostly around the area of the collapsed nose gear - repairable. Lil' Bruiser will be out of action for a while. The text of your msg does not show, unless I ask Gmail to "show original" (pasted below). Capacitive probes have been discussed in the past, check the archives. I remember the one thing against them is that if you use a fuel different from the one with which you calibrate it, the reading will be inaccurate. Carlos CH601-HD, plans ______________________________________________________ Have any of you used the Skysport Capacitive Fuel System, which is now owned by Aircraft Spruce? The float system provided with my 601XL with extended range tanks is designed to mounted on top of the tank (not the one shown in the building guides). Regardless, it seems that a float system for a long tilted tank mounted near the wing root will not register any change from full until a significant amount of fuel has been used. The Skysport system can have a long capacitive measuring tube that extends from the low end near the root to the high end towards the tip. Seems like it would be much more accurate. Anyone try it? Thanks. 2009/10/21 <teblejw@att.net> > >

Larry, Yes, the pilot is fine. The engine quit. He was not within gliding dista nce of the airport, landed in a pasture OK, but hit a berm and collapsed the nose gear. From his description, it must have been a fuel related pr oblem - maybe a clogged screen in the fuel path or carb icing. I have bee n under the weather, so haven't been able to get to the hanger to investig ate. I used the skysport on my 601, and found it very accurate. Carlos may have a point about the different fuels, I don't know. I mounted it from the high end, with the probe running the full length of the tank to the bottom. Using it with the Dynon, and I trust it totally.........Fred Sanford N9601.... just sold
