As message traffic is rather low, I thought I'd post a link to some interesting reading: http://www.reiffpreheat.com/Article-Busch.htm "This article originally appeared in the January 1999 issue of Cessna Pilots Association Magazine." Carlos CH601-HD, plans bottom of centre wing riveted.

Very good article Carlos, I use an electric "milk house" heater that trickles heat via a small fan and is very adjustable to the point that you can hardly hear it going. In this winter's sub-zero temps and my unheated steel hangar, the inside of my cowling is just warm, or nearer 60-degrees or so. The Subaru engine metal is uniformly luke warm and not cold to the touch. I place a towel over the nose of the cowl and around the spinner to hold the warmth inside and the duct and custom fit pieces for the heater unit were very inexpensive and not hard to make. It's going on 3 years now and when temps get back in the 20s, I plan on flying. see links to see the heater and parts, http://www.macsmachine.com/images/completion/full/heateradapter.gif http://www.macsmachine.com/images/completion/full/heaternose.gif http://www.macsmachine.com/images/completion/full/heatertocowl.gif The heater was obtained from Lowe's Happy 2010 guys!
