If not, the three or four layers of spar material will separate, effectively gripping the rivet. On particularly stubborn rivets, I would take a 3/32 drill and try to hollow it out. This seemed to help. For me it seemed that about half the rivets came out easily with the air hammer method and the other half needed extra tender loving care to remove. Good luck!
