Bill Thanks for posting. As a one time builder of one of his planes I had nothing but praise for him. Sad in deed. I absolutely would not just buy a reamer the size you think you need or the size the bolt calls for. You need to measure the pre existing hole in the spar and use that size reamer. If you take it for granted the hole that is there is the proper size and it is bigger you have just reamed the new doublers smaller than the spar cap holes and guess what you have just done? I will be using oversized NAS bolts and will use the proper size reamer to ream for final size. I don't want all the stress only being taken up by the new doublers and the cap holes being sloppy. Just my 2 cents Jeff

Hey Jeff That sounds like a totally logical and sensible idea. With the centre spar out of the aircraft it would seem easy to join the centre spar to the wing spar with the old 5/16 bolts then "match"ream each hole to final size (3/8") Do you know what oversized NAS bolt are required? I find the nomeculature of NAS bolts impossible to understand!!
