Excuse the potential stupidity but I thought that the purpose of putting a hole
between the existing holes was to ensure that you don't use the original holes
(leaving them hidden on the underside).
Therefore you would have a pitch 40 on the new holes not a pitch 20 with elongation
(and therefore potential cracking) on the original holes. Does this make
sense or did I not read the plans properly?

I also thought that the use of solid rivets would negate the need for pitch 20
due to their comparatively higher shear strength?

Subject: | 601XL main spar question |
Hey guys I am about to open up my wings between nose rib 5 and nose rib 6 to install
mounts for my external main spar struts. As I remember, the solid rivets
are pitched 40mm on center.
Could someone tell me the actual distance between the driven rivets on the forward
side of their main spar? (i.e. the space available on the front spar doublers
between rivets) (As I recall, -5s are used that far outboard, so there is
more space than further inboard where -6 rivets were used)
Thank you so much!
Sabrina
