I have used a crylic enamel (Dupont Centari, without hardener) on cars and it takes some practice to get it right. We also want it as thin as possible for weight re asons, increasing the skill factor. For aluminum, self etch primer is proba bly a must for adhesion, but is the epoxy second primer really necessary? It is just part of the acrylic system I used. I think the system is made by PPG. My guess is the epoxy primer does most of the protection work and the acrylic color coat just provides the final color and a bit of shine. I have trim on one side, and paint as well. The upgrade comes with 3 lbs.11oz. total of weights, plus the weight of the bolts, and I have the flex hinges. Can anyone who has completed theirs advise me as to how much weight to use on each aileron? Then the aileron balanced nicely when hung on the wing with a few clecos. Paul XL installing upgrade.
