Jay. Please reconsider. I dont know you and we've never swapped emails but I've
seen your name on here plenty over the years. I consider all who post here to
be friends, yourself too. You have put too much into your plane to give up on
it now. Think back on your building process. You know every rivet in that plane.
You think you feel bad now. Imagine how youll feel after your plane is gone,
thats a lot of emptiness. You have made the wrong decision. I've nearly finished
my 701. I bought the plans in 1991. I'm hoping it will be ready for FAA
inspection in late summer. Last year around this time (April 1st) I was diagnosed
with Small cell lung cancer. Cut a long story short, I went through the Chemo
and the Radiation and now I'm 10 months clean and I'm pedaling as fast as
I can. I hate the thought of somebody else finishing and flying my plane. Ok you
finished and flew yours but Jay, surely you meant to get more than three hours
out of it. Come on Jay, The damage is not as bad as you think. Life is good.
Rebuild your airplane and fly it Geoff

Geoff,
I appreciate your concern and encouragement. Of course, a large part of
my decision is emotional, but the primary reason I will not fly again is
physical. I am 75 years old. My balance has deteriorated, my eyesight ha
s continued to deteriorate and I have occasional dizzy spells. None of th
at is great stuff to have and be flying, especially solo.
Yes, life is good. I might not be able to fly any longer, but I can most
certainly continue to enjoy life. I am currently helping a friend with
his quick build 601XL kit; and I will certainly continue to support Zenit
h builders in any way I can.
Thanks again - Jay
