Another builder and I are planning to split an order for 5/32" SS Cherry N
rivets to use in a few locations in our 601XL's. As near as I can tell, the
CCP-5-4's (grip length 0.125-0.250") are identical to the AS5's sold by
Zenair. The CCP-5-2 are the shorter version of that rivet sized for joint
thickness less than 0.125". SS Cherry N rivets are used in 1/8" size on
Sonex airplanes.
The catch is that the CCP-5-2's are only sold in quantities of 1000 while
the CCP-5-4's are sold in quantities of 500. We'd be happy with fewer than
500 each, so we're looking for some additional buyers to split a 1000/pc
lot. The CCP-5-2's were quoted at $0.092/ea and the CCP-5-4's were quoted
at $0.052/ea. Plus shipping, of course.
I paid Zenair $0.15/ea for some spare AS5's 3 years ago.
The CCP-5-4's would be the correct size for the (nose skin)-(top rear
skin)-(extruded angle joint). CCP-5-2's would be the correct size for the
(nose skin)-(bottom rear skin)-(bottom spar cap angle) joint.
Note that these rivets cannot be installed with the Zenair supplied rivet
gun. Harbor Freight guns work pull them OK.

Cherry N rivets CCP-54 are available from Wicks for $0.33 and you can buy as few
as you need. They do not list the CCP-52 however.
