Unless the hole is around 1/8" or smaller you cannot just drill the sheet metal to size. the hole will be disgusting and certainly not round, depending on the sheet metal thickness. Please buy a few #1 center drills. They are 1/8" dia. and dirt cheap and you can make a couple of 601's with just a half dozen. You can center punch first and then drill straight through thin sheet metal with these. Then open the hole up with a step drill to 1/64" under the ream size. Then ream to size. Put a piece of scrap wood on the sheet metal and clamp on the wood. You will get a much nicer hole. I have lots of reamers and I use them to slowly work up to the size I want or I will use a step drill.....Geoff > > > Read this topic online here: > > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=303369#303369 > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message zenith-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Zenith-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/zenith-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/zenith-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
