Jim,
At 70, I also feel age is a rare privelege, but my AOPA is history now
and I feel much younger for it.

AOPA has turned into a real joke.- Last year we had an opportunity to buy
a =0AChinese canard wing tendum aircraft.=0AOnly one of its kind in this c
ountry.- Before I bought it I called the AOPA and =0Aasked them would the
re be any problem=0Aregistering it and getting an N number.- They said no
problem at all.- It would =0Acost about $250 and they could handle it=0A
all.- Well, we bought the plane, got it back to Florida, proceeded to put
it =0Atogether and contacted them to get it registered=0Aand an N number.
- At that point, we got an N number reserved and things started =0Ato go
south.- So I contacted the AOPA=0Aand they charged me $75 for a title sea
rch and that's as far as its gone.- Oh, I =0Aforgot, before that I contac
ted the AOPA=0Aand talked to a guy and he said he knew of a couple of guys
that could help me.- =0AI thought this is great as they had experienced
=0Ain this field.- A few weeks later the guy got back to me and gave me a
couple of =0Aphone numbers and said it should help.- I=0Acalled the numb
er and they were the FAA...back to zero.- So, as far as I'm =0Aconcerned,
the AOPA is only interested in corporate=0Ajets, corporate money, and gene
ral aviation as a whole.- =0A=0AAs-far as I'm concerned, the EAA is goi
ng the same way with Sun N Fun, Oshkosh, =0Aetc.- And,-I would like to
add that the=0AAARP magazine has long since been replaced with PLAYBOY!-
I don't like looking =0Aat old people, either.=0A=0AJoe N101HD/ZENITH 601XL

I'll ditto that for Sun 'N Fun. I volunteer each year, but if it weren't for
the friends I only see there each year, and the sheer fun of it, it would
already be toast.
You may not be aware of it (I wasn't, for some time), but Sun 'N Fun is not an
EAA function. True, there are some loose ties, but S&F is a separate,
supposedly non-profit, organization. It was started by EAA members, and a lot
of us still volunteer there, but EAA it isn't.
The founders who had closer EAA ties retired some years ago. Sun 'N Fun (I
think) is now really a central Florida tourism thing, that happens to have
airplanes.
I haven't been to Osh in years. When I started going, Paul was still in
charge, and there was some effort to keep the cost of attendance down, and
aviation up. All that seems to have changed.
We really need a grass roots aviation organization that puts the fun back in
flying, actually represents us in Washington, and doesn't cost us all an arm
and a leg.
The problem I had with looking at pictures of old people was that those were
people my age. I'm thankful for every morning I can still get up in and look
in the mirror, but being reminded of what I see I can live without.

Hello Gaggle:
I am looking for some information on CATTCO PROPS.
This is their web site:
http://www.cattoprops.com/index.html
Is anyone using their props?
Info needed is:
Three Blade Prop Vs Two Blade Prop.
Is a 54" Pitch CATTCO equivalent to a 62" Pitch Sensinich?
Why is there so much of a difference in pitch call-out between the two?
I say this because a 54" is what was recommended / suggested Vs a 62".
I did some basic calculations and for the same engine and going from a two
blade to a three blade the pitch should be closer to a 60".
I do not want a climb prop - I want a cruse prop.
Does anyone have a spread sheet program or a web site for doing
calculations?
ANY IDEAS?
Thanks Gaggle-
Barry
