I'm also agreeing with all of you, AOPA & AARP sure don't do anything for
us homebuilders, LSA, or antique lovers who are trying to enjoy our hobby,
and in some cases our occupation. I do a lot of Flight Instructor
Refresher Clinics and fewer are members of AOPA it seems like yearly. The million
$ plus just doesn't fit in most of our budgets. However that sure don't
mean we don't love flying and aviation. My profession, hobby, occupation, and
recreation for 50 years.

Subject: | CATTCO PROPS 3 Vs 2 |
Hello Gaggle:
I am looking for some information on CATTCO PROPS.
This is their web site:
http://www.cattoprops.com/index.html
Is anyone using their props?
Info needed is:
Three Blade Prop Vs Two Blade Prop.
Is a 54" Pitch CATTCO equivalent to a 62" Pitch Sensinich?
Why is there so much of a difference in pitch call-out between the two?
I say this because a 54" is what was recommended / suggested Vs a 62".
I did some basic calculations and for the same engine and going from a two
blade to a three blade the pitch should be closer to a 60".
I do not want a climb prop - I want a cruse prop.
Does anyone have a spread sheet program or a web site for doing
calculations?
ANY IDEAS?
Thanks Gaggle-
Barry

Sabrina,
The report says:
"FAA review of the in-flight failures did not indicate a single root cause,
but instead implicated the potential combination of several design and
operation aspects. Our preliminary assessments focused on the strength and
stability of the wing structure. Further analysis during the special review
found the loads the manufacturer used to design the structure do not meet
the design standards for a 1,320 lb (600kg) airplane. Static load test data
verifies our conclusion. The special review also identified issues with the
airplane's flutter characteristics, stick force gradients, airspeed
calibration, and operating limitations."
There is nothing new here. Their review "did not indicate a single
root cause" and further, the cause was determined to be "the potential
combination of several design and operation aspects." That means that they
couldn't find the cause and are just speculating on what the real
"potential" situation is among a whole host of possible factors.
This topic is really getting tiring. Please give it a rest.
Believe what you want to believe, but leave others to their own conclusions.

After installing the additional "aileron control stop" I find my stick can now
only travel approximately 1/2" for aileron control. Is this what others have
found or will I need to cut a great deal of material from the edges of the 50
mm slot?
Have not connected the aileron cables yet... just curious. Hardly seems like
enough travel!
Caleb tells me amount is different for everybody...depends on the installation...?
Thanks for feedback,
Mike

Jeff: Why then, did you feel the need to move the post from the limited 601 site
to the entire Zenith list?

Sabrina,
You are no longer a cute 14 year little girl with a great future in
engineering. Quit finding new things to harp on.

Well, I've met her and I think she has a great future in engineering. I would
hire her in a second.
You got my number, Sabrina.
