Stop trying to be an engineer, you are not qualified to
opine on aircraft design until you have served your time in the industry. CH
has served decades of time in top companies. You with your juvenile
opinions as to what makes a good airplane are very tiresome. So quit it go to
MIT
and try to learn to be a useful person to society instead of being a winer.

out....
don't be so afraid to experiment, work with the design, think outside of the box...

Bad news!
A small aircraft crashed at Kapowsin, WA airport yesterday. From photos
of the wreckage, it's clearly a Zodiac. The damage to the wings make it
difficult to determine from the photos which version of the 601 was
involved. I'm a 601HD builder, and I can't see clear evidence of the
center section and outer panel wing design, so I'm thinking it's an XL.
The accident reportedly occurred on takeoff. The airplane was briefly
airborne, according to witnesses. The 60 year old pilot was dead at the
scene. The passenger, also said to be 60, was conscious and alert when
he was removed from the wreckage and taken to a hospital.

Can't positively ID the plane from the photo, but it does say in the article:
"Several private pilots who live near the airstrip said they believed this was
the first time up in the air for this plane, described as a Zodiac Model CH 601
HDS. "
The plane is relatively intact, including wing attachments. My very uneducated
opinion based on the wrinkles in the skin is it nosed in pretty hard.
My prayers and condolences to the pilot and his family.

According to the preliminary FAA accident report at

the reg # is N18295 which is a 601HDS with a Subaru engine.

I guess, I have to agree with you John.- I just couldn't see what set all
of these knuckleheads off.- I thought I must have missed a post, but no.
- Sabrina really didn't say anything that I thought was flame-worthy.-
Oh well, I guess some people need to get a life.- I had doubts about the
design and I feel pretty good about the FAA's whole participation through t
his affair.- I think they interceded at the right time and conducted a ve
ry professional assessment in the end.- I feel quite confident that the d
esign is now safe assuming that the upgrade is properly implemented.- But
it isn't the only way to make the design safer (as Sabrina has shown).
Come on guys, questions are good.- I speak as someone who has dabbled a b
it in aircraft design over the years and I always welcome Sabrina's opinion
