If so did you replace the existing skin on top of the instrument panel with the new precut version? The precut version appears to be completely off the dimensions of the instrument panel. Anyone else encountered this problem? -------- Cell +27 83 675 0815 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=309414#309414 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:56:20 AM PST US Subject: Zenith-List: Post Mod Weight and Balance From: "Dave J" Is anyone with a 601 and Jab getting weights similar to mine as follows: Nose 204 Rt main 275 Lft main 278 Tot 757 If so, any thoughts of adding nose ballast? In my mind, there needs to be a specific reason to want to add dead weight to an airplane. My airplane is quite close to yours, but with about 10-12 pounds more per main wheel (601XL with Jabiru). Only at the most extreme case, which I never flown at, do I see going out the back side of the W&B envelope. That is two decent sized people and a lot of baggage in the back. I will more easily go over weight than I will go out the rear envelope. Thus, for me, adding nose ballast hurts more than it helps. So where do you see yourself realistically wanting to load your airplane? Congrats on completing the mods, by the way, -------- David Gallagher 601 XL/Jabiru 3300 First flight 7/24/08 Upgraded 3/19/10 150+ hours and climbing! The print dimensions confirmed this. The effect was a large gap at the top flange of the instrument panel and firewall. Zenith sent me a replacement that was identical to the first. I could not convince them that there was a problem on their end. I had to make one from scratch which was to the drawing and fit very nicely. I'm about 13 hours into Phase I concentrating on CHTs and the air plenums, but I have had no problems at all with me (190 lb) and full fuel (30x6=180 lbs) in two leading edge tanks. 700+190+180=1070 plus about 30 lb misc gear. So I have flown it at about 1100 lbs or so at this point with no problems or bad characteristics. Did the size of the instrument panel change between the XL and 650? Is this may be why they don't fit? It is not possible for us to have screwed this bit up as it is defined by the top of the instrument panel which Zenith made. I wish that they would just fess up when they have cocked up. -------- Cell +27 83 675 0815 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=309497#309497 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message zenith-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Zenith-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/zenith-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/zenith-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
