WHY would you want to GLUE the mat in place? ! ! !
What happens when you get it wet and want to pull it out to dry.
What happens when you spill your coffee all over the mat?
What happens when you take up a friend for a flight and they UP-CHUCK all
over it?
What happens when you wear out the mat and want to replace it?
I know what happens - You curse like a sailor trying to remove the mat and
the glue.
Why not use Heavy Duty PLASTIC Velcro - We use it hear at work and it is
awesome!
The trick is:
CLEAN the area well - MEK - Acetone - Alcohol
Install it and DO NOT use it for 24 to 48 Hours. The adhesive takes a while
to take set.
Use two pieces at each corner forming a ' L'. This holds in both the X & Y
axis.
You then can Roll - Loop - And CLEAN very easy.

Hi,
An alternative to carpet for the heel plate channel is 6 in. wide
stainless steel tape. This is a very thin self-adhesive tape.
The weight is next to nothing.
The tape is almost indestructible, and heels cannot possibly do damage.
Aft of the channel is a nonflammable carpet without glue
or attachment. The carpet cannot move since it is
held in place by the channel and spar.
BTW, I have found the stainless steel tape to be useful in other spots,
for example, for shielding rubber hoses near exhaust pipes.

Thin Stainless sheeting is a pretty good conductor of heat, so it would not
protect rubber hoses very well if it was in contact or very close.That's why it
is recommended to use thermal-insulated hose covers where heat may cause problems
