Looking for input. From: "Geoff Heap" I am strongly considering purchasing a tent hangar from shelter logic. They can be viewed at. http://www.shelterlogic.com/pk_30x28x16.html This would be for my 701. Shelter logic is the best product I've found. At the grass strip where I will erect it, there is one there that measures 26 wide X 30 deep and 12 high. The guy keeps a Rans S12 in it. The 701 would not fit in this size building. I would have to go to the 30 wide. Unfortunately, at 30 wide the height goes up to 16. My concern is the wind. I'm afraid I'll show up one day and it will be gone. One bright note is that I would be backed up to a wooded area that would protect me from the prevailing westerly winds. I'm looking for any kind of input to help me make a decision. Recommendations? horror stories/warnings? Any thoughts at all. It's a one time expense that could last up to 10 years before it would need a new cover. The product is definitely worth the money. Anyone else own one?......Geoff -------- Dual controls. Dynon 180. Icom 210 Garmin 296. Becker transponder. Sigtronics intercom. Electric flaperons. Everything was in order etc. except my Pilot Operating Handbook. I cleare d taking the check ride with the examiner in my 601 over 6 months ago befo re I started training and 5 minutes into the oral portion today we had to s top because he didn't think I had enough information in my POH for him to q uiz me on my aircrafts systems. The fact that I built the thing isn't proof enough that I know how everything works. Currently my POH has V speeds, al l types of procedures, maintenance info, W&B, fuel burn etc info in it. A call to the local FISDO said the same thing. I need a POH that contains e nough information for the examiner to quiz me on all the systems in the air craft. When I asked for an example of what exactly they wanted I was referr ed to "Everything that's in a 172 POH" which I think is a bit overkill. In an effort save 100's of hours making take off & landing performance graphs (yes they asked for these) and many other drawings does anyone have a good through POH for the 601XL using a Jabiru 3300 engine and preferably a Dynon EFIS? The one from Zenith is good but I can't copy and paste and it's the wrong engine with steam gauges. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Your best bet is to take th e exam in a 172 that has the "proper" POH. Just pass the exam and then f ly your 601. They won't admit it but I am pretty sure thats the deal. do not archive. Perhaps you can find one who doesn't really want to criticize your POH and just wants to check your IFR skills. Another possibility is for you to use a C-172 POH to impress the guy with your performance chart reading skills and then go on to the actual flying in your XL. Perhaps your FSDO can point you to other choices for the check ride. The Dynon User Manual and the Jabiru Maintenance Manual would do nicely. What is in a 172 manual varies quite a bit. I have a club owned Cessna 172M. It is a 1974 Skyhawk. The POH is about 3/16 of an inch thick but it is the official POH issued by the manufacturer. Jeff Davidson _____ Guys, I went to take my Instrument Check ride in my 601XL-B today.
