Hi,
Before you consider a flight to the Bahamas, you may want to consider
that the probability of surviving an emergency landing on water in single
engine aircraft like our birds is about 50%, unless the pilot has had
special training. That figure comes from an AOPA article written
by an expert for such landings.
Given this statistic, I avoid flight over open water outside gliding
distances of shore at all cost.
On a more cheerful note, if you are considering an autopilot, you may
want to look into the DigiTrak by TruTrak, which has turned out to be
a terrific addition in my plane and was highly recommended by several
friends.
Happy flying,
Klaus

Personally I would question that statistic....
At the speed 'our' planes land at, a basic fly just above the water, st
all it and drop it in seems like a low speed controlled crash. And for b
onus points you have to remember,,,, water does not burn.
IMHO
do not archive
