Subject: | Falcon Insurance Agency -- EAA's representative |
I can't speak for others=2C but my airport requires proof of insurance agai
nst any events that might occur during the building of my project. In this
case=2C my plane is down for the upgrade=2C and is not in flying status.
I presume if a fire broke out in my hangar=2C the airport or other tenants
could recover damages from my insurance.
By the way=2C the upgrade is almost complete on my machine and I'm in the p
rocess of putting it back together. I'm taking the opportunity to fix a fe
w things like I added a 5th bearing to my Corvair engine=2C and I'm re-rout
ing my brake lines (I never liked how I did it before).

Why insure if not flying? That is awfully high premium. I am not trying t
o be flippant but what are you insuring against? Did you carry insurance w
hile buildin
Thank you=2C

Subject: | Kitplanes article |
Hi guys,
There's a fine article in Kitplanes this month on the engine
failure/accident rate for aircraft engines as compared to automotive
engines. The piece does put
a decent focus on problems with cooling, re-drives, and ignition systems
(not so much the engines themselves). Though, I would have liked to have
seen failure
rates of re-drives taken by geared versus belted, the article does say
without saying that you need to know what serves your automotive engine
conversion best.
One redeeming chart does show that after 200 hours, long term, automotive
conversion failure rates are less frequent than the standard aircraft type
engines.

What is with the furry thing on the left of shot in the fourth photo? Were you
sharing the turret with a Racoon?

Great looking HDS!
I so miss having a basement - out here in Arizona they only dig into the ground
for pools!

Of course, the wings and rudder come off.
At the house the garage is the same level as the basement. I created removable
panels between garage and basement. Removing the panels and opens a 10 foot wide
opening that I roll the airplane into.
Closing up by replacing the panels seals everything back up for the winter.
Wings hang from the garage ceiling to keep them out of the way.
