They have fabric reinforcement molded in and are cheap as well. I built my Corvair myself as per Williams recipe and with his manual, parts and guidance. I also used much info from Mark Langfords incredibly useful website. My Zenith performs great with the Corvair, and I always get comments on how cool it sounds. As for the landing gear cushions, the hose supplied for that purpose isn't something I ever considered using. Overall, I was well pleased with the kit materials and quality of parts supplied by Zenith for the 601 XL. I'm not sure why they fall so short of the quality standard on this simple part. It's easy to cut out cushions that nest nicely between mount bolts for the gear.
