Steve, I have an MGL Odyssey EFIS in my RV-8a and have 32 hours behind it.
NO other gauages of any kind, not even a compass. All told I'm pleased with
the computer and MGL response to my questions and issues. I'm sure I'm a p
ain in the butt!. As to flying with a computer screen I am now totally sold
on it and I really didn't expect that I would be. I have another airplane
with steam gauges and it's a choir to fly with less info and response. I'm
not a sales guy for MGL, but I do respect the fellows that make, sell and s
ervice them. I have a good buddy with GRT screens and he's always got a pro
blem with something??? Course it could be him as opposed to the machine. My
advise is to look past the pretty display on the screen and investigate th
e wires that come with the sensors and probes, the connectors and the sub s
ystems. If it looks like crap then figure you'll be flying crap! You'll lea
rn more about the product by seeing how to set it up and make it work then
just how bright the color is on the tube. Good luck, Bill of Georgia

Hi guys,
am preparing to make some of the major purchases for my instrument panel
nd was hoping you all could offer opinion.
was considering the MGL Voyager for my primary display but I have been
dvised that the product is suspect but I was not given any details other
han the display might not be as bright as some others.
was wondering if any of you guys have used the MGL products flown in
lanes with the displays installed or might have some information I would
ind valuable.
have seen the products displayed at shows and installed in planes (on
round) but I have never flown right or left seat with the systems in full
se. I have flown in one plane with their black/white screen and the MGL
adio (I loved the radio, clearest I have ever heard) and the display worked
s advertised.
am aware of the Dynon products but the MGL has some features Dynon does
ot and I really like those. However, if there are show stoppers I am not
ware of I would enjoy hearing from anyone who might offer any opinion.
hank you,
teve

teve I suggest you go over to the MGL forum at http://www.mglavionicsusers.
org/forum/index.php
o get more information. The forum is independent of MGL but the company own
er
oes contribute. The VAF forum is another good source for EFIS information.
I have the Enigma so I can't comment on the Voyager vs the competition but
I can
ell you I have never read where the Voyager or other models are less bright
han the competition. I wish I had the Voyager or the new iEFIS just being
eleased
ith a touch screen, maybe the next panel.
