Hi Guys,
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but it is much, much easier
to install the rudder to the fuselage without the nose skin on the rudder.
I don't know if this is a prescribed method and frankly this falls in to the
"this worked for me" category (so take this advice only as it is intended,
my experience only) but any of you guys just getting started.Do not rivet
the nose skin on to the rudder. Just leave it clecoed until after you are
ready to fit the rudder to the fuselage.
It is recommended in the plans not to attach the upper bearings for the
rudder until you are ready to fit the rudder. I would agree 100% with that.
The trick is though those upper bearing are under the bottom edge of the
nose skin and very difficult to get to and align properly for the rudder
install. If you can take off the nose skin it makes things much easier.
I ended up de-riveting my nose skin so I could remove it and try the install
as I am describing. From what I can tell this will change a "two person,
pain in the butt operation" to a one person no problem task.
