The other thing is scrup ulous attention to detail on your paper work. Some of the FAA guys and DAR s care more about that than the airplane because the paper points directly to them. Did you have any problems with the DAR. Did you do any thing special. Any tips for me about planning ahead so I'll be able to do it? Thanks in advance. I can produce these new barrels, which are gaged to ASME/ANSI B1.3-2007 specs, for about $3.50 a barrel in quantities of (1000) and still make a small profit. Spread the word and reply to aircraftturnbuckles@yahoo.com with your thoughts and suggestions. These turnbuckles will be manufactured in Waukesha, Wisconsin, by a company that has been very successful at KEEPING products made here in the good ol USA! Great. Do they have both left-and right-hand threads? Yes? Great. Break strength better than 600 pounds? Yes? OK. As I recall, a genyuwine turnbuckle has a break strength of near 800 pounds, which is past empty weight of a 650, and more than any human can exert. Overkill. Can the customer also get eyelet or clevis ends at a good price with purchase? Very good. One stop shopping for convenience is always good. A side thought. You can get aluminum turnbuckles at Lowe's, with a break strength of 700 pounds for a couple of bucks. Come in at 50% or so from Aircraft Spruce (haven't checked their prices yet) and should have a winner. I'd say, try a batch, and advertise in several builders' lists, and see what happens.
