Subject: | firewall engine fittings (CH601-HD ) |
Hello, folks
Can someone clear this for me:
The CH601-HD drawings show the lower firewall engine fitting (6F6-3) with
two holes for bolts going through the floor (and extrusion 6F5-4). The
forward hole is 18 mm from the forward edge of the fitting.
Issues: (1) The firewall flange is 18 mm wide, and even considering that
the thickness of the doubler will position the bolt hole a little farther
away from the firewall web, the hole will still touch the firewall flange.
And (2) drawing 6F9 shows the forward bolt going through the lower firewall
doubler (and presumably through the firewall flange).
I haven't found pictures that clearly show where this bolt was installed by
others.
Any comments?
Thanks in advance
Carlos

Carlos,
This is a photo of my 601XL under construction. I don't think it would be
that much different from your HD. It clearly shows the forward bolt hole (
with cleco) going through the firewall flange. As I recall, because of the
proximity of the bolt heads, the engine mount bolt had to be inserted and
tacked into place before the forward bracket bolt was installed.

Carlos:
I will look for a picture of my engine fitting, I fabricated a shim to
fit under the engine fitting to level it out.
