For the landing light, I have it angled more down so that in the landing position, which is longeron angled more up, the light still shines out in front of me. Not a whole lot of science was used in angling the landing light. I picked an evening and would push the tail down and see where the light hit. I adjusted it until it looked "about right." I flew a few times at night and it worked OK. I don't really do any night flying these days, but it is there if I need it. Since you have four lights to work with, you have more options in which to aim the lights around. Personally, I had more problems with taxi illumination than landing illumination. I had more issues with trying not to hit things during taxi than I did during the landing sequence.
