Just about to rivet the skins on the elevators [601XL] and the left hand half seems
it could use stiffeners top and bottom to stop drumming [trim tab channel
on the other side stiffens the r/h side].Anyone done a similar mod? Cheers

I have just received my first batch of ring gears. I know some have cracks
in theirs and were waiting.

If you know of anyone that might be interested in a 601XL project (entire kit),
Jabiru 3300A engine & FWF kit (in crate), kit options and all tools/bench needed
to build, have them contact me for detailed list (including price paid) and
price being asked. Construction to date rated "excellect" by EAA Tech Advisor
on both visits. To be advertised in Trade-A-Plane during Oshkosh.

Is the cantilevered end of the starter supported or is all that weight loading
the machined bracket in bending?

I suspect there would be little/no drumming on the tail feathers.
I haven't used any stiffeners in that area.

Only advice I have is to make the material as warm as you can while riveting.
When it shrinks as it cools it all tightens up.

Subject: | Elevator Trim tab motor |
The trim tab motor does not line up with the access hole [factory cutout] once
the rod is approximately in the center of the cutout [20 -25mm out towards the
i/b side].If one was to mount the motor onto the bottom skin instead then it
does line up, because of the offset on the trim motor actuator. My question ?
is there a r/h and a l/h version of the trim motor. Cheers
