I just installed mine and it was offset also but you can still get at it if you had to. The motor is about 30mm from the rib and the rivets are about 20mm from the rib. Cheers, Yes, there are left and right hand trim servos. I had the same problem as you are describing. After discussing it with ZAC, I cut a larger access hole and made a larger cover. My pre-cut Elevator access hole was offset from the servo body and lined up with the rod instead. I found that the Aileron access hole lined-up with the servo body after I made the cutout as per the drawing dimensions but then it was slightly harder to access the clevis to install the pin, clip and washers. Actually, it appears that the right hand side may need stiffeners. The trim tab should not have any movement (or very little), but if you try to move the tab up and down you will note that the motor will move the skin up and down. A stiffener here would stop that motion since any motion of trim tabs and/or flaps (while not being moved by the motor) is a bad thing. Check with Sebastion or Caleb however for an OK before stiffening any surface. As it turns out, my Zodiac is one of the last two AMDs that was built with the old-style canopy. (Well, version 2, really; has the new canopy latch.) AMD got two airframe kits in today with the new canopy. You can see pictures at http://www.conmicro.com/ch601xlv3 . There are also some pictures of my airplane with the cowling and panel covers off at http://www.conmicro.com/N55ZC . That will eventually be the page for my airplane, all the way through, but the pictures are there now (just no fancy thumbnails or index pages). -- Jay Maynard, K5ZC http://www.conmicro.com http://jmaynard.livejournal.com http://www.tronguy.net Fairmont, MN (FRM) (Yes, that's me!) Hey List! The instructions, and drawings call for an A4 Pitch 40 rivet line on the elevator hinge and the rest of the top aft spar...this all works well inside the outboard ribs (line up), but outboard of the outboard ribs, the pitch of the rivet, line on the front spar is something less than 40....am I supposed to match that, or just not meet up with the outer tip rib rivet line? Your help is appreciated...take your time...its 108 today, and even with the swamp cooler, it's not pleasant in the garage ;) Peter Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=187297#187297

The ribs are the bible. Locate and drill them to the dimensions on the print. The outboard rib rivet line is in 8mm then the next inboard rib rivet line is 490mm, the next ribs are dimensioned 162mm from the centerline. The 40mm spacing is approximate and can be done with a rivet fan. Some of my rivet 40mm spacing is actually 37mm. Line up the hinge and mark in 8 or 10mm in from the ends and start your hinge rivet spacing from there back to the next inboard rib. Hope that helps, -------- Ron Lendon, Clinton Township, MI Corvair Zodiac XL, ScrapBuilder ;-) http://www.mykitlog.com/rlendon Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=187312#187312
