Hey Scott, great news, congratulations!!! Sounds like as you did a perfect job. By the way, I am jealous about your engine sound. The "music" of the 912S on my XL won't be even close to what your airplane must sound... Congratulations Scott! So you're taking lessons in your own plane then? That's cool. I was under the impression you already had a license though. Good luck with everything. Sounds like you have a good instructor being that he's willing to give you lessons in a experimental. -------- Andy Shontz do not archive CH601XL - Corvair www.mykitlog.com/ashontz Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=188254#188254

Scott, Congratulations!!! Flying an airplane SOLO, that you built SOLO, from scratch, has to rank up there with the greatest! Could someone confirm that some 601 XL QBKs were supplied with the aileron cable fairleads installed upside down (the slot facing up instead of down). I seem to recall some talk of this on the forum but can't find anything in the archive thanks Geoff (Aust) -------- ge Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=188268#188268

Congratulations !!! A huge day made even better because you did it in a plane you built. As for finding instructors to teach in an experimental. Folks just need to find REAL instructors and not time builders. I've already got 2 that have offered free BFRs just to fly in my yet completed plane. The difference being the real instructors love airplanes and not just the idea of sitting in the right seat of a flying bus. -------- W.R. "Gig" Giacona 601XL Under Construction See my progress at www.peoamerica.net/N601WR Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=188363#188363

I had a great instructor who understood this and didn't want to see me just renting planes forever. I think he took it as a personal challange to see how well he could teach me. My checkride actually counted as my 40 hour. :) I had 39.5 going in and 41 at the end of the checkride, with all the requirements satisfied within the 39.5 hours within a 3 month period. That guy wasn't screwing around. Guy named Renee from Denmark. Cool dude. Super friendly and knowledgable. He used to walk around the FBO quoting FARs ouut of the book just to peeve the owner who was a know-it-all. lol Gig Giacona wrote: > Congratulations !!! > > A huge day made even better because you did it in a plane you built. > > As for finding instructors to teach in an experimental.
