Subject: | BRS engine mount firewall attachment drawing? |
Hi guys,
I'm at the point of attaching my new-style BRS engine mount brackets to the firewall.
Has anyone seen a drawing that specifies number, type, and placement of
bolts, etc? I searched the archives and the BRS site - no luck with the new Zenith
mounts. I'll check with Zenith if there's not one out there and post it
here.
Thanks in advance.

The revised 6B6 dated 8/7 shows the details of the triangular top motor
mount bracket. I've attached the copy Caleb at ZAC sent me.

We have just finished a 10 hour flight from Englewood Fl. to Louisville KY
with the new rear starter setup and you can view pics and a video of the engine
run up at Bill Clapp's place on the web site here

(http://www.aeroliteproducts.com/Rear_Starter_Kit.php) We plan to have the airplane at Oshkosh with the new rear starter
setup. I will be updating the site with a Technical update on distributors as
well as more ring gear cracks in the next few hours.

I hope the horizontal angle of the firewall to the upper longeron matches
that of the bracket. Otherwise you will have to trim the bracket like I did.
Or maybe you welded your own.
Also be careful to stagger the bolts through the bracket and the longeron
relative to the rivets that hold the side skins to the longerons. Otherwise
you may find it difficult to get the nuts and washers on the bolts (and get
a socket on them) due to interference with the "bulge" of the pulled rivets
inside the fuselage. But my installation was probably more complex than
yours since I was retrofitting the new style mounts dues to manufacturing
mistakes in my QBK.
