I don't have my WW manuals here. In fact I think they I left them at the airport
this weekend. But I think that the position instruction he gives is with the
#1 cylinder TDC that the prop is at 10 and 4.
I could be wrong and if nobody else chimes in with a more definitive answer I will
look when I get a chance to go to the airport. It might be later this week
though.
You might also ask over on the Corvair list.

Hi Gang,
I agree with Gig, according to Wynne's 601 manual, with the #1 cylinder at TDC the prop should be indexed at the 10:00 and 4:00 position. I just ran my corvair for the first time on Sat. 7/19. I'm still grinning at how much power the motor had at WOT. The motor turned 2850 RPM with a warp drive prop set to 8.5 degrees at the tips.
